Baltimore artist N A E joins Deviate to chat her new single with Plant Dad.

Your Sunday evening just got better…. Baltimore up-and-coming artist filmmaker and musical artist N A E (Nae Bailey) just released her 4th single of 2022 titled “Misery” and you’re going to want to listen.

“Misery” plays on the all-to-common theme of a friendship that becomes unsalvageable and the obvious demise of the relationship. N A E is young, but her ability to resonate with listeners through her lyrics is veteran-like. Her voice smoothly fits over virtually anything; however I like that her and accompanying Baltimore-based artist Plant Dad chose to keep it on the simpler side.

I got to toss N A E a series of questions last week: from the Baltimore music scene to her collaboration with Plant Dad, N A E is headed in the right direction and doing so in a humble manner. Watch below for the whole conversation.

N A E and Plant Dad have worked together for the past few years, providing finishing touches to each other’s work when needed. When asked about their recording process N A E spoke to their “natural and always intertwined” collaboration through having the same musical outlook & even the same producer. In fact, N A E was supposed to originally have two verses on “Misery,” but when Plant Dad gave his provided his take on the second verse she said “actually, you’re going to be on this”. You can’t get much more organic than that…

A huge thank you to N A E for taking the time to chat with us. There’s nothing better than adding another go to artist to your roster. Enjoy!
