In honor of KAYTRANADA’s upcoming May Red Rocks show, we thought it would be fitting to give you a blast from the very recent past: his 2019 Coachella performance. Tickets are still on sale, and I KNOW him, his brother Lou Phelps, and Sango will put on a show that will make you forget live music ever ceased to exist.

I enjoy this mix mainly because of it’s versatility. You can throw it on at work, on a run, at a party, in the car, on a Bluetooth Speaker attached to your bike (if you’re one of those people), literally any occasion. One other aspect that makes the it great is KAYTRANADA’s randomly interjected ad-libs throughout the hour. He will be smack dab in the middle of a transition and give a “yep!” or an “oookkkkayyyy” and not even think twice. I also adore the “y’all mothaf*ckas better dance to this too”. It gives the set some added pizzazz and a sense of realness.

My absolute favorite moment is at 52:30 when Kay trolls the audience by wrapping up the set and then finding out “oh shit.. I got more minutes left??”, only to then cue up “GLOWED UP” and bring out the man .Paak himself. An amazing moment.
