Have you ever wondered what a crossbreed of Goth Babe and STRFKR sounds like? I present to you Morning Silk.

Morning Silk is home to East Village-based, indie synth-pop artist Frank Corr. Today Frank gives us “Don’t Try Hard Enough” – a tune about pouring everything you have into what you cherish most in life. Something we can all get behind.

If inundating synths are your vice then please step forward. Frank and friends have steadily perfected how to incorporate groovy guitar strums, a nice background bass, and supernova-esque synths into the ultimate indiepop package. I can only image what this song sounds like live…

Morning Silk saw great success near the end of 2019 with hit tune “Gravity”, which initially began to turn heads. Their next release “Outside” only increased their following and now here we are.

We briefly caught up with Frank to ask about his take on the track. He had this to say:

“I wrote this song in the midst of quarantine. I learned a lot about myself and what it means to switch out your everyday routine for something you’ve always wanted to explore. It’s the same as anything but you have to make sure you’re putting everything into it, and no matter how much you give it might still not be enough for you. That’s how you know you’ve found something special. It’s crazy to expect people to figure out what that is with confidence at 16. It’s never too late to chase something you feel so strongly about.”

Morning Silk is set to have a break out end of 2021 and an even bigger 2022. You’ll want to be along for the ride… In the meantime, be sure to show MS some love and stream “Don’t Try Hard Enough”.

Oh and if you’re in the Queens area be sure to stop by The Windjammer on October 13th to catch Morning Silk live.
