Sam Martinsen, aka pluko, has tens of millions of plays, multiple albums, and has toured the country….all before the age of 20.
Pluko’s spin on electronic music is everything but normal. I would usually accredit his sound to that of ‘future bass’, however, then his songs take a left turn and you’re stuck going “how did THAT just turn into THAT???”. That’s what makes his music so addicting. I remember first hearing “Breath” feat. pronouncedyea back as a freshman in college and I was immediately hooked by his signature chopped vocals and colorful swings.
The Hollidaysburg, PA (population ~6000) native has been busy in 2020. He not only has 4 new singles out, but surprised his fans with an incredible 12-track album. He also recently released an hour-long, roller coaster-of-a-mix for Diplo and Friends and BBC Radio1. There’s truly never a dull moment in the entire thing; starting off with his album intro, ScHoolboy Q, and Medasin, and ending with A.G. Cook, Carmack, and his new single.
It appears pluko has always been a lifelong followers of Diplo’s radio show, which makes this mix even cooler. I always love when artists can look back and reflect on when they were just like any other fan.
