If you’re into sun-soaked, surf rock tunes that immediately put you at ease then look no further. May I introduce Cayucas…
The Los Angeles-based indie rock brothers are back with an end-of-summer jam that is guaranteed to be a mood-booster. “Sayulita” is a small village on Mexico’s Pacific coast protected by the Sierra Madre Occidental mountains, but for the Cayucas, it’s a sonic release. With a vibe as close to the Beach Boys as possible, their newest single takes you to a place of serenity and good times.
“Sayulita was a demo that we wrote in around 2016-17. Something about this place, Sayulita, we were hearing about, it had a nice ring to it,” Zach Yudin explains. “We’ve never been, and have no plans to go, but lyrically I like to create a sort of mythical place in my mind that encompasses the mood. The song has a sort of Eagle-esque, Hotel California quality to it, but it’s really about the idea of going somewhere in your mind. Even if you’re not actually there, it takes you away for a while
Fresh off their 2020 acclaimed album Blue Summer, Zach and Ben are looking to capture on their growing following and with singles like “Sayulita” and “Topo Ride the Wave” I’d say they are doing just fine.

With more than 300K monthly listeners across streaming platforms, Cayucas are poised to do big things in the back half of the year. Turn this up, roll the windows down, and enjoy the rest of your warm weather.
